Process for Selecting the Winner
Wanted to let you all know our process for ticketing and selecting a winner.
We use a software program called "RandomPicker" to select the winner. This particular program does not issue tickets. Rather, it uses a different method. All the entrants are listed in their program. The info includes your name, email and the number of entry tickets credited to your name.
For example, if a person bought 10 tickets, your entry will list that number, plus any bonus entries you received. This program then multiplies your entry by the number of entries. After expanding the list by the number of entries, the program randomly selects a winner. Once a winner is selected, we call them to let them know they are the winner. The winner is confirmed by email.
After the winner is notified, then their name will be posted on our website, and an email sent to all participants.
Hopefully this lets you know the process for selecting the winner. It's pretty simple and straightforward. Let us know if you have any other questions.
OFFICIAL RULES
The “Great Mustang / Mustang Giveaway”
SWEEPSTAKES OVERVIEW
The “Great Mustang / Mustang Giveaway” is a fund raiser for the Historic Aircraft Preservation Society, Inc. (“HAPS”). HAPS is a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation under Section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code. The corporation is governed by a board of directors, and has a written code of ethics. All directors serve without compensation.
All proceeds from this fund raiser go towards the preservation and restoration of historic and vintage aircraft. Our current project is this 1931 Fleet Model 8 biplane. It is the last Model 8 left flying in the world. It was once owned by a famous WWII bomber pilot. McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS is named for him and his brothers. The plane's name is "Three of a Kind", and has a fascinating story. We encourage you to read more on our website HERE.

PRIZE DETAILS
(The Official Rules have been amended on October 29, 2023 to include an additional option. There is no change to the Grand Prize... only an additional option for the Winner to choose from. Some international donors have indicated that it may be difficult and expensive to accept the Mustang Car portion of the Grand Prize. Taxes, import duties, and the cost of transporting the car overseas makes it uneconomical. So Option Two has been added to allow the Grand Prize Winner to choose an option of a Mustang Flight and cash.)
The Grand Prize Winner has the option to choose from the following:
Option One:
Flight in a P-51 Mustang (“Mustang Flight”), and a 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible (“Mustang Car”).
Option Two:
Flight in a P-51 Mustang ("Mustang Flight"), and $20,000 Cash.
Option Three:
$25,000 Cash.
The Grand Prize Option One value is estimated to be $50,000.
The Winner must take possession of the Mustang Car in Midlothian, TX no later than December 31, 2024. If the Winner fails to take possession of the Mustang Car by that time, then the Winner will receive the Winner’s Cash Prize of $20,000 in lieu of the Mustang Car.
The Mustang Flight will be awarded in the form of a Gift Certificate good for the flight on a P-51 Mustang. The Gift Certificate for the flight will be good for up to 24 months. The Mustang Flight Gift Certificate carries no cash value and may not be redeemed for cash.
Second and Third Prize Gifts: Sponsor may, at its option, add additional prizes as second and third prize gifts.
Flash Giveaway and Bonus Prizes: The Sponsor may, from time to time, offer a gift prize as a Flash Giveaway or Bonus Prize. These Prizes will be awarded to someone who has entered the Giveaway up to the date of the Flash Giveaway / Bonus drawing.
CASH PRIZE OPTIONS
Winner’s Grand Prize Options: The winner may select from the Grand Prize Options detailed above. The Winner may only select one option and can not mix or match other combinations. Any Cash Prize must be claimed by December 31, 2024, or it may be forfeited.
Sponsor’s Cash Prize Option: In the event less than $110,000 in entry tickets are sold during the Sweepstakes Entry Period, the Sponsor may elect, at Sponsor’s option, to award a Grand Prize of a.) A flight in a P-51 Mustang (“Mustang Flight”), and b.) A cash prize (“Alternate Cash Prize”) in the amount of Twenty-Five Percent (25%) of the “Net Donation Proceeds” to the qualified selected winner.
As used herein, the term “Net Donation Proceeds” means the gross proceeds received by the Sponsor from donations for Entries in the Sweepstakes, minus the cost of Sweepstakes expenses, including advertising, promotions, and prizes. The determination by the Sponsor will be binding in all events other than a manifest error made by the Sponsor in the computation of the gross donations of the Sweepstakes.
Each winner is solely responsible for all taxes, including Federal, State, and Local taxes, if any, as well as registration, insurance and other expenses incurred with claiming the Grand Prize. Appropriate reporting forms to the winner, IRS and state will be provided. The winner will receive an IRS Form from the Historic Aircraft Preservation Society, Inc., Inc. (for the calendar year the prize was awarded) for the total value of the prize determined by Historic Aircraft Preservation Society, Inc. The estimated value of the Grand Prize Option One is $50,000. The IRS requires withholding for non-cash prizes with a value exceeding $5,000.00 after deducting the cost of the winner’s ticket. The winner pays the withholding tax to Historic Aircraft Preservation Society, Inc., at the rate of 25% of the prize value.
To receive the prize, the winner must complete all documents including State Registration Application, IRS Form W-9 Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification, IRS Affidavit and Release, and other documents required to take possession of the Grand Prize.
MUSTANG FLIGHT
The Grand Prize Winner will receive a certificate good for a flight in a WWII P-51 Mustang. The ride will occur at a time and place that is convenient for the plane, pilot, and prize winner. The flight is subject to weather and maintenance.
HAPS will arrange for the Winner and the Mustang Owner to communicate. The Winner and the Owner will then agree on a time and place for the ride. The airplane resides just off I-20 in NE Louisiana, and travels the country at various airshows. The Winner acknowledges that they will need to travel to the airplane at its home base, or to an airshow to complete the Mustang Flight.
HAPS may substitute another P-51 Mustang for the Mustang Flight, if for any reason the designated plane is not available.
Mustang Flight Rider Requirements: The rider must be at least 12 years of age and physically able to climb in and out of the aircraft under their own power. All riders must sign a Hold Harmless Waiver ( riders between 12 and 17 must have the waiver signed by a parent or guardian.) The aircraft can hold 1 passenger behind the pilot. For ear protection a head set will be provided, or you can bring your own. This ride is considered "high intensity".
The Grand Prize winner may designate someone else to ride on the Mustang Flight in the Winner’s place.
WARRANTY
The winner will receive the prizes “AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH ALL DEFECTS LATENT AND PATENT.” THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, EXCEPT FOR THE WARRANTY OF GOOD TITLE TO THE MUSTANG CAR.
Historic Aircraft Preservation Society, Inc., Inc. is not responsible or liable for information that is not in compliance with these rules.

(HAPS), it’s directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability for injuries, losses or damages of any kind (including, without limitation, attorney’s fees) caused by participating in the sweepstakes, or winning any prize, or resulting from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize. Each Winner agrees to indemnify and hold HAPS harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind arising from, in connection with, or as a result of participating in the sweepstakes or the winner’s acceptance or use of any prize.
A sweepstakes entrant’s sole and exclusive remedy for any claim against HAPS arising out of the sale of tickets or the conduct of the sweepstakes shall be limited to the return of the purchase price paid for his or her ticket(s). In no event shall HAPS, its directors, officers, employees, agents, or representatives be liable to any party for any loss or injuries to earnings, profits, or goodwill, or for any incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages of any person or entity whether arising in contract, tort or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
